Pictures of other Rover SD1s that I have chanced upon...
Here are a couple of photos that I took at the recent Spares Day. The first picture appears to be a Series 1 and the second picture shows a sample of other SD1s that appeared on the day.
These photos were taken by a neighbour when she went camping in Devon in late September 2001. I understand that the owner was happy for the photos to be taken, but that he isn't a member of the Rover SD1 club. Shame, the car seems to be in fantastic condition for its 18 years and with almost 200bhp and buckets of torque, it is ideal for lugging a caravan round Europe.
Electric windows, tow bar and still got the original radio. But not turned a wheel for almost 6 years. The first picture was taken on holiday in Wales, the next photo was taken at Billing Aquadrome, Northamptonshire, for an SD1 rally, in 1994 (I still have the T-shirt!). The last three photos show Roger with his new gas struts for the boot, mileage frozen at 86,734 miles and the engine bay as it has been since 1996.
There are two known Rover SD1 estate prototype cars. This one resides at the National Motor Museum at Gaydon. The police car pictured here is typical of the patrol cars used by the nations constabulary. The "Last of the Line SD1", a twin plenum Vitesse, and a race-prepared monster were not on display, but I will scan in my circa 1994 photos when I find them! The Museum recently disposed of a Car Show cut-away display model (2600 model) that is believed to have been broken up for spares.
